    Southlake Information and Highlights

    A close suburb of Fort Worth, Southlake can safely say that its is part of Texas' most valued community. Fort Worth is the fifth largest city in Texas. It finds itself nestled snuggly a point in a metropolis triangle composed of Arlington, Dallas and itself.

    The city was founded in 1849 as an Army outpost on a cliff overlooking the Trinity River. To this day, Fort Worth and its close hamlets manage to embrace their western heritage and their cowboy like architectural and design.

    Following the "Treaty of Bird" (a document between the native Indian tribes and the Republic of Texas in 1843), a line of Army Forts were established around the Texan/Mexican border. A way to preserve a level of safety for ranchers and settlers in this area. A conjunction of posts that were pivotal for the defense of the land during the Mexican- American war in 1846-1847.

    To this day, Fort Worth, one of the first outpost in the area is known as "where the West begins."

    Following that bloody skirmish, Fort Worth began to deal in cattle and became a thriving mercantile town. The ranchers and their rich industry used the town at the nucleus for their "cattle drives." A way-station to not only sell their herds but properly spearhead them to other climates. It rapidly started gardening a reputation as a town on the outskirts of civilization that was onto itself quite reputable and refined.

    The borough and its suburbs started edging out; hotels, casinos, bars, general stores, hospitals and the comforts of big city life in the American Frontier became a standard by which Fort Worth built its reputation.

    Southlake, all the while, was one of the first pioneer heavy communities to find roots in the dusty plains of Texas. Its firsts settlers made this tranquil community their home in the summer of 1840. It wasn't until 1956, four years after Grapevine Lake was finished as the cities main aqueduct, that the jurisdiction was incorporated. The area remained mostly rural until the completion of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Since that period in the mid-1970's the local population has gone gangbusters. An upsurge that has almost reached the projected build-out of 34k residents. A skyrocket effect due in part to the the Solana business park and the many business that have assigned in the area the headquarters of their empires (Sabre Holdings, Verizon Wireless, Carroll ISD)

    Location

    Southlake was ranked no. 5 on a list called "The $100K Club: America’s Highest-Earning Cities". The city is a paradise brimming with fortune 500 hundred CEO's, Dallas Cowboy, Sport Legends and local high-earning celebs. As such, the town likes its comfort. The city's residents spend big and like a level of conveniences and amenities rarely seen in other suburbs around Fort Worth.

    Its location is ideal for easy access to any number of quality establishments and veins of commerce. A quick ride and you'll find yourself in a webbed system of state of the art transportation.

    Southlake easily becoming the backyard of the wealthy and influential.

    December 2008, Forbes named Southlake the most affluent neighborhood in the United States.

    2009, 76092, Southlake's zip code was ranked as the richest zip code in America.

    Weather

    Fort Worth is the proud beneficiary of a humid subtropical climate. A system that onto itself suffers the tweaks of a desert environment. Extreme temperature variance between night and day. The hottest month of the year is July. With hot periods, that skyrocket the mercury on thermometer up to the high 90s. Overnight temperatures plummet down to the low 70s.

    Winter, meanwhile, plays loose and fast with the cooling winds. Its coldest month being January. Local averages range from 55 to 31 degree.

    On account of its position in North Texas, Fort worth, and its neighboring communities are rather susceptible to thunderstorms, which produce large hail and can create tornados.

    Shopping

    Southlake is a buffet of fashionable boutiques and big name brands. Trendy stores and famous labels decorate the city's landscape. For every Publix, Seven Eleven and Walmart, there's an Apple Store, personalized jewelry, and a local high-end fashion emporium.

    Southlake's local restaurants are perhaps some of the best in the Fort Worth areas. Their task not easily differ and accomplish. Each highly critical and expertly maintained and exercised. Southlakes seizes the challenge and goes above and beyond the call of duty to satisfy.
