Colleyville Information and Highlights

A close suburb of Fort Worth, Colleyville can safely say that its is part of one of Texas' most valued community. Fort Worth is the fifth largest city in Texas. It finds itself nestled snuggly at point in a metropolis triangle composed of Arlington, Dallas and itself.

The city was founded in 1849 as an Army outpost on a cliff overlooking the Trinity River. To this day, Fort Worth and its close hamlets manage to embrace their western heritage and their cowboy like architecture and design.

Following the "Treaty of Bird" (a document between the native Indian tribes and the Republic of Texas in 1843), a line of Army Forts were established around the Texan/Mexican border. A way to preserve a level of safety for ranchers and settlers in the area. A conjunction of posts that were pivotal for the defense of the land during the Mexican- American war in 1846-1847.

To this day, Fort Worth, one of the first outpost in the area, is known as "where the West begins."

Following that bloody skirmish, Fort Worth began to deal in cattle and became a thriving mercantile town. The ranchers and their rich industry used the town at the nucleus for their "cattle drives." A way-station to not only sell their herds but properly spearhead them to other climates. It rapidly started gardening a reputation as a town on the outskirts of civilization that was onto itself quite reputable and refined.

The borough and its suburbs started edging out; hotels, casinos, bars, general stores, hospitals and the comforts of big city life in the American Frontier became a standard by which Fort Worth built its reputation.

Colleyville, meanwhile, was finally pinned on the map in 1880. The community, just a horse ride away from Fort Worth, was an emerging collection of small rural settlements along the Cotton Bell Route. Originally known as Bransford, it was only in 1914 after Walter G. Couch opened a grocery store near Dr. Colley's (a prominent physician and veteran of the Union Army) that the community was named in the latter’s honor.

Colleyville's city motto is "Close to Home, Miles from Ordinary."

Situated smack dap in the middle of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Colleville is minutes away from all the excitement of 3 of the most notable towns in the state: Arlington, Dallas, and Fort Worth.

Big city shindigs, skyscraper amenities, and jet-setting sophistication rounded out with a combination of laid-back small town charm and the feel of the west. Colleville has slowly turned into a premier destination in which to live, work or play.

Money magazine named Colleyville in its list of “100 Best Towns in America.” Its impressive array of byways, rail system, and its International Airport, mixed in with the comforts of natural beauties and parks, grants Colleyville an impressive dichotomy by which to hang its stetson and feel proud of.

Colleville has an impressive array of options to beat back boredom and gift its citizens a good time. A beacon just outside Fort Worth that offers a haven to sit back and relax. A webbed wonder of Bike and hiking trails; a bustling business center; fashionable boutiques; luxurious spas; professional sports of every kind… Colleyville has something for everyone

Fort Worth is the proud recipient of a humid subtropical climate. The hottest month of the year is July; mid-summer days being particularly harrowing. During these periods the temperature dips and spins between 95 °F (35.0 °C), and overnight low-temperatures that average around 72 °F (22.2 °C).

Meanwhile, winter's wrath dances around 55 °F (12.8 °C) and low temperatures average 31 °F (−0.6 °C); its coldest month being January.

On account of its position in North Texas, Fort worth, and its neighboring communities are rather susceptible to thunderstorms, which produce large hail and can create tornados.

Colleyville is a potluck of fashionable boutiques. High-end trendy stores and big name brands decorate the city's landscape. Meanwhile, Fort Worth has everything else for a marathon binge-worthy shopping spree. Big box stores (Target, Walmart, and Publix) and shopping pavilions brimming with international brands and all your favorite labels.

Colleyville and its 3 approximate megalopolis offer the daring eater an epicurean oasis. If you're mind can imagine it, some kitchen in the area is most-likely drumming it out. Part of Colleyville's charm is the fact that it nails its good standing on the notion that it's truly just a small ride away from the exotic wonders of the globe. Here, in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, you'll never find yourself in the position of partaking of the same grub.
